Farewell to Father Marti

We went to a farewell and birthday party for Father Marti, who is moving to California. The place was packed and Father Marti regaled his fans with an Irish song. We will definitely miss our favorite MM.

On an Arboretum walk

Joanna and I hosted a Camino walk through the Arboretum this morning. It was a lovely and a few nice people joined us!  We saw water lilies...

Lots of wildflowers...

The Pacific Rim garden is amazing.  These lilies are part of the China garden and are at least ten feet high.

Just some leaves:

We found a totem pole:

Z and S

We went to Nike Park with Z and S. Z found a hat and a copy of the Constitution in the back seat. S went down the slide about 20 times.

At Lithia Park

Reflections in the pond at Lithia Park. OSF seems to attract an older clientele. The lady behind us just joked about her friend's husband, "do you know this man? He's not a masher, is he?"

Stage 3 of 3

Beauty and the Beast in the outdoor theater. Right now the tympanist is practicing for the thunder. I can't tell if it's for the big finale or just when Belle escapes only to be attacked by wolves.

Theater 2 of 3

Henry IV Part I is about to begin.

In the Angus Bowmer Theater

Snapchatting during intermission.

In a pioneer graveyard

There is an old cemetery adjacent to the campus of the University of Oregon where many Eugene pioneers are buried.

Almost there

A dramatic mountain we haven't found out the name of yet. Viewed from the freeway by the passenger, not the driver.

The famous Lane County Historical Museum

A former coworker used to talk about this museum all the time so we had to stop in. We saw an authentic Prairie Schooner and put on a puppet show.

In Eugene

We are en route to Ashland for two days of plays. It is soooooooo faaaaaaaar. We did get to stop in Eugene and see some of mom's old haunts, including the famous North Eugene High School and the library at the University of Oregon where mom would sit on the steps and eat cottage cheese for lunch.

Scenes from the OSP

We went for a walk through the Olympic Sculpture Park. It has been ten years since it opened and now the meadows really look like meadows. It was lovely.

The last Baccalaureate

Yesterday we had the last of our four Baccalaureates. This one was especially special because there was an illustrious graduate in the class of 2017.

In the words of the Smith College anthem, Vivat academia, vivant professores.

Wearing her hood medieval style:

Congratulations, J!

Paper plate snakes

Dana had the idea of making paper plate snakes for the rain forest in the living room. Zizi was pretty happy with how her anaconda turned out.

Another ordination, redux

The priestly ordinations were quite wonderful... but I think I may have had enough Archdiocesan grandeur for one week.

Another ordination

Tommie is reading up on the new ordinands in preparation for the Ordination Mass this morning.
