A busy Saturday

Today we had two Jubilee pilgrimages and a funeral. Here are some of the kids from the Vietnamese community:

Now we are at the Seattle Center where we are waiting for "The Force Awakens." We stopped in to see Sacred Heart. We have never been nearby when it was open before.

Lovely shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help:

A day off

This afternoon I went for a walk along the trail. This is part of a large collection of statues and junk a neighbor has arranged for the amusement of passers-by.

Our camellia!

In the evening we got to take Z to dinner at her favorite restaurant, Taco Bell. She ordered a quesadilla, as always.

Z also demonstrated her deep devotion to baby Sage.

She is obsessed with Yoshi, a spin-off of Mario Brothers. One minute she says, "dada, help me" and the next minute she sobs: "dada, you winned the whole game!"

Man of mystery

St Joseph is being cleaned this week. He looks very mysterious swathed in plastic and cleaning paste.

Sunday morning

These adorable children started playing ring-around-the-rosy after Mass. Ella was the ringleader, quite literally.

Followed by a lovely brunch at Joanna's.

Alice's birthday

Today we had another tea party in celebration of Alice Liddell's birthday. Given that this party was with Chris and Rebecca, there were hats.

I selected the hat that was part of Rebecca's uniform during her year at a proper British boarding school. (!)

Everything is so proper at the Queen Mary tea room. There is even a corgi. And we were amazed to discover that they had even found room for Christmas decorations.

It was all just so.

In Redmond

Just making Valentines with our Valentine.

Quick trip to Portland

We went down to Hillsboro for an early birthday dinner with B, M, and C! There was no traffic this time, and we learned that if you go to the Cheesecake Factory in Tigard, OR, you have to wait 25 minutes for a table even if you are eating dinner at 4:45pm. (???!?!!)

Drone visit

After the 10:00 Mass today a drone visited and filmed people exiting the Cathedral. The footage looked pretty amazing. I trust it will inspire the biggest Annual Appeal collection ever.

Tuesday tea party

Today D, Z, and baby S came over for a tea party!

Zizi devouring a cucumber sandwich.

Baby Sage about to have his first taste of apple sauce.

Z coloring...

Simultaneously FaceTiming with Auntie Ria and playing with her science kit....

And throwing sticky things at the window.

We made Mary Berry scones, too. Zizi helped me mix the dough. "Wow, look at me, mama!"

Adventure with Z

Today aunties got to take Zizi on a shopping adventure! She was super excited and even gave her new booster seat a hug before it was put in aunties' car.

First stop: Starbucks and QFC. "This hat is frustrating," she observed, because it kept falling in her eyes.

Next stop: the bookstore. "Look, new glasses!"

Aunties sure love their Zizi!

The last Christmas party

Tonight was our last Christmassy gathering. I made the gruyere mac and cheese from Bethie's blog. It turned out great!

After dinner came the pipe cleaner ornament contest. John made a pipe cleaner rock-paper-scissors so we wouldn't have to judge each other's pipe cleaner creations.

Peggy made a tinselly twist suggestive of the chaos of the Christmas season.

Joanna made an angel dog.

M made an openable book--Jane Eyre, of course.

My own ornament is not pictured as I have a reputation for being somewhat creative which I wish to protect.

Voting was by secret ballot and John won by a landslide.

Staff Christmas party

This year our Christmas party was at the Market. Amazing views, great dinner, and cool people.

There was even a coronation scene.

The picture I took in front of the Market was so bad it is almost good.

At Book-It

Tonight we are going to see Emma, she said brightly, walking to a velvet-covered chair and sitting down upon it. (Everything is in third person at Book-It.)
