...and back again

We came back via the Bremerton Ferry.

It was a perfect day.

If you were wearing sunglasses, that is.

There were lots of things to take pictures of.

Today we went to a production of Mary Poppins featuring the daughter and husband of Julie, one of M's classmates.

The show was presented at a theater located deep in a wooded glade in Bremerton. I had never heard of it but the outdoor theater has been in operation since 1923 when they presented "Robin Hood of Sherwood Forest."

The adorable younger sister of the actress, showing off her tiny kite.

The audience was discerning, to say the least.

In Snohomish

I drove all the way to Snohomish to do a presentation at a deanery meeting which, it turns out, was rescheduled for last Friday.

At least I got to see St Michael's.

Update from Santa Fe

M is in Santa Fe this week planning the next Cathedral Ministry Conference. Here's the Cathedral:
The interior.
Beautiful contemporary art:
Right around the corner is the little chapel with the miraculous staircase. The story goes that the Loretto Sisters hired an incompetent architect who designed the choir loft without planning for access. The Sisters were in a quandary until a mysterious carpenter came riding into town on a donkey, with a box of carpentry tools. He designed an ingenious staircase  and then disappeared, accepting no payment for his work. Who was he?  The more interesting theory says that he was St. Joseph.  The less interesting theory says he was a French architect who happened to be passing through town.  I am going with the more interesting theory.

Bad news/good news

The bad news: Johnny had food poisoning so Dana had to take him to urgent care!

The good news: Zizi needed auntie to babysit and play with Play-Doh.

When asked to smile for the camera:

More good news: Johnny is doing better and when he came home Zizi took good care of him.

At Chihuly Garden and Glass

Tonight we went to a Fulcrum event at the Seattle Center.

It's all too easy to take photos of.

Now they have a modified vintage trailer that turns into a glass blowing studio (above).

The Needle and party-goers reflected in a purple blob.

At Starbucks

People always misspell my name on my coffee cup, so lately I have taken to giving the name "Jane." When the barista asked for Maria's name, she said, "you can just write Jane on both."

Happy Mothers' Day to my mom, M's mom, Johnny's mom, Zizi's mom, and mom's mom!

At the Seattle Center (again)

Tonight we are going to see "Little Bee" at the Book-It. I don't know anything about it other than that one of our young parishioners is in it, wearing a Batman costume most of the time.

Garden tour redux

It's a beautiful sunny day so you can expect to see garden pictures.

Our ornamental cherry tree is covered with ornamental cherries! I suppose this happens every year but I hadn't noticed it before.

We have many purple irises, but only one yellow iris. It grows in a prettyish sort of wilderness in the back yard.

These pink flowers are beginning to climb up the garage. After five years, they are now about three feet off the ground. We might yet live to see them reach the roof of the garage.

Our rhododendron. Look at it fast, it will soon be hideous:

A long ride

Our Italian friends are off today on the new city rental bikes. Their plan is to ride all the way to University Village. (!)
