Reading Traherne

I am reading some Thomas Traherne in preparation for next week. Many of his works were discovered at a bookstall in London in 1897 when a collector bought two manuscript volumes for a few p. apiece. They contain such sayings as: "Your Enjoyment of the World is never right, till every Morning you awake in Heaven" and "You never Enjoy the World aright, till the Sea itself floweth in your Veins." !!!

Brunch at Joanna's

We had a lovely brunch with J, J, P, and R! And T, of course. Who appears to like P best.

Comparing iPhones. There are too many choices.

Joanna's bookcase and our bookcase have a lot in common.

Beautiful birthday purse made by J. Perfect, as always!

Family night

We got to spend the evening with family. We had a lovely dinner and visit with Cash....

...and Zizi, wearing her new glasses.

Zizi and Cash loved the rocking chair they inherited from their friends Christina and Elizabeth.

Zizi's glasses

Zizi got her own (real) glasses today. There are no words to express the cuteness of Z.

Crafty Tuesday

We had a lovely crafty morning with two people whose craftiness puts ours to shame. However, it is fun crafting with them...

...especially when we get to keep the crafts. Peggy gave us the beautiful pincushion she made. We decided it's far too pretty to put pins in. We think it will be a dolly pillow instead.

Tommy and Hairy really enter into the spirit of crafty day.

Happy Easter II

We had a great Easter. Some people know how to dress up.

Selfie with the great Joseph!

Everyone came to Easter dinner. The general theme was "eggman."

Having a lemon juice tea party with Z is the best.

"Happy Easter everyone!" says Zizi.

Happy Easter

No signs of the Easter bunny, but I did see an adorable creature with warm, soft fur and cute ears this morning.

Getting ready for the Easter Vigil

Joanna helped Linda with the flowering branches...

Joseph carved the Paschal Candle...

A very amazing notebook turned up in lost and found...

She must have been at Tre Ore yesterday:

This is the night!

Good Friday

Good Friday.

Preparing the cross for veneration...

But Easter is already waiting in the wings.

Holy Thursday

We had a nice lunch at home today and had a chance to look at the violets...

And the tulips.

The Mass was lovely. I can't believe tomorrow's Good Friday already... which means it's practically Easter. Well, I guess I am getting slightly ahead of myself.

At Tenebrae

It really feels like Holy Week when they get to Charpentier's "In monte oliveti." Vigilate et orate!

April

Highlight of the day so far: turning the page on my Year of Z calendar.
