A quiet night at home

This is M's life now. Hence, it appears that it is my life, too.

Back at the Archives

Today I was at the Archives reading up on Father Tibesar and the Japanese internment. He and Bishop Shaughnessy corresponded throughout the war. It was soooo interesting.

Update from the grad student

M is just bursting with tidbits of information after her Old Testament class.

Windows!

We had some new windows put in. They are soooo great! It will be a lot quieter and warmer upstairs now.

A happy baptism

The adorable Catherine was baptized today. Such a good girl. She seemed to enjoy the whole thing, at least the parts she woke up for.

Power to the people

We hosted one leg of the interfaith I-594 March this afternoon. Patty did a great job of leading the prayer. It's not often that petitions are greeted with applause.

The rising generation

M and her little friend Cash hit it off very well. Cash was really interested in Dickens. I think he identifies with Oliver, at least when he is asking for more to eat.

The convergence of the twain:

Kisses!!!

Auntie heaven.

Visiting celebrity

Cash is in town to meet his grandpa for the first time! His daddy is good at making him smile.

Daddy is just too funny.

Zizi's boppers

Last night we started our book group with Dana. As an added bonus, Zizi modeled the boppers which will be part of her Halloween costume. She's pretty excited about how she looks in her boppers.

Crafting

Crafting, a cabin tradition.

Into the wild

We walked to Hidden Lake in a light rain and walked back in pouring rain.

At the Grunewald Guild

We toured the Grunewald Guild, a Christian arts retreat center. There are bits of calligraphy hanging in the trees and posted here and there around the grounds. There are murals in the dining room and stained glass windows everywhere.

Making postcards

Lake Wenatchee and environs and an old barn.

In the country

This is the view from Jackie's backyard. The only sounds one hears are cows, crickets, and the occasional tractor.

In local news

It's great here. Reading the police blotter in the Ellensburg Daily Record actually makes you feel safer than you did before.

At Central

We took a quick tour around the campus where Zizi's mommy studied. Barge Hall is really nice.

In Ellensburg

We are in Ellensburg this afternoon visiting Jackie who is working at Central Washington University. We toured downtown Ellensburg, including the history museum. There were only ten minutes before the museum closed but that turned out to be plenty of time to see the tool displays, the rodeo displays, the dolls, and the Model T's. The horse was a familiar character in Ellensburg for years, modeling saddles outside the saddle shop.

A fun day

First M, then we, then I babysat Zizi so her mom and dad could go to a funeral. Zizi was so great. She even took a nap at the right time in spite of not having her favorite blanket, her snuggly duck, and her pluggie, which were accidentally left at home. Zizi just picked out a book of short stories by Sarah Orne Jewett from the bookcase and went to sleep.

In the evening we went out birthday present shopping for our Z and then Facetimed with our favorite Santa Clara student. What a great day.

Too... early...

I left the house at 6:15am (6:15am!!!!!) to get to Bellarmine in time for Teacher Excellence Day. Our presentation on "Journey of Faith" is in the Administration Building. I don't know what a jugable infraction is but it sounds pretty bad.
