Dress rehearsal with audience

The Great Music dress rehearsal was tonight. We processed here and there as medieval folk in motley, deacons of the Renaissance, and disciples of Jerusalem. We think the servers have the most fun.

Mirò and dress rehearsal

Yesterday morning we went to the Mirò show at the SAM with Karen. It was interesting... but we all learned something--that we all prefer to hang out in the Renaissance gallery.

In the evening we had the first rehearsal for the last Great Music. It seemed to go fairly well from the server point of view. Celeste looked good, anyway.

At the VA

Today we visited our friend Jim who is in hospice at the VA. He's really quite remarkable!

At a Gatsby party

Tonight we went to a Gatsby party in celebration of Dana's birthday. Zizi got a haircut!

Dana and friends looked amazing.

So did Z, the littlest flapper of them all.

Happy birthday, Dana!

Post-it art

John found this in the Cathedral after a busy Sunday.

A Valentine

We got a Valentine in the mail today made by our crafty friends the Smith Clan. Isn't it great?!?!

Cuteness and craftiness

Tonight was crafty night at Dana's. We worked on more needle-felted creatures while Zizi watched Bugs and Daffy. She prefers to watch cartoons wrapped in a blanket while seated in Lulu's doggy bed.

Dinner with Shirley

Before we met Joanna, we were the only people we knew who loved Shirley Temple movies. As it turned out, Joanna is an even bigger fan than we are. Shirley is permanently enshrined on the refrigerator, there is a framed portrait in the living room, and a collection of special dishes comes out on special occasions.

We decided to honor Shirley tonight with dinner and a movie. We drank Shirley Temples, of course, and then we watched "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm," which has a slight coincidental resemblance to the famous children's book with the same name. We also had the best gnocchi ever, along with animal crackers and lollipops. It was a lovely evening.

Tommie update

Tommie is just as cute as ever. She just doesn't usually sit still long enough to get her picture taken.

Photo experiments

My new camera also makes phone calls.

New gadgets

I finally made good on my threat to switch to a windows phone. The new phone is supposed to have a great camera--you can see every bit of moss on the head of our owl.

At a sewing bee

There were some interesting goings-on in the South Tower today in preparation for you-know-what.

It is coming

The one... The only... Perhaps the last... GREAT MUSIC FOR GREAT CATHEDRALS. It really can only be written about with caps lock on.

A crafty day

Joanna and Peggy wanted to try needle felting, the one craft they are not already masters of. Today was the day. We needled and felted all morning.

It was not a contest. But M obviously won.

J and P dodging the camera before our tea.

D and Z joined us for lunch. Z loves cameras.

Zizi relaxing with a good book:

It was a fun day off!

At the NWFGS

Today we went down to the Northwest Flower and Garden Show at the Convention Center. It's where people with yards go fantasize about having gardens. On the way out we saw the cutest little snow bunny someone made in Freeway Park.

At the Archives again

This little book went with Bishop Blanchet on his begging tour of Mexico. It records the donations he collected in various dioceses, including money, paintings, vestments, Missals, and much, much more.

A serious fan

One of the foot soldiers in the Legion of Boom stopped by the Rectory to warm up after the invasion. He had come up from Longview, bivouacked overnight in Renton, and arrived at the scene by 6:30 in the morning. He described the triumphal procession of the linebackers, the quarterbacks, the owners, managers, and the like. He said it was all worth while even though some of the other #12s were a bit pushy and rude.

My favorite line of the day was from one of the Christian Brothers: "so who won the big basketball game?"

A day off

In honor of my day off I am having tea in a teacup with a saucer.

On the Feast of the Presentation

I think we may have enough candles for tomorrow.
