Black Friday

We had our day-after-Thanksgiving dinner with J, D, and Z. Zizi showed off her dance moves with a bucket on her head. We think it was the best day-after-Thanksgiving ever.

This year we had Mom, Becky and Matt, and our uncle and aunt for Thanksgiving. After dinner our uncle played his guitar and sang. He's really good. Now we are wondering why we had Thanksgiving without live music all these years.

Our babysitting gig last night went really well! Zizi never cried once. Her favorite book today is Animals/Les Animaux. Every time we got to le chat, she would give the kitty a kiss!

In the kitchen

My iPhone and I didn't quite capture the amazing pink sunset reflected on Mt Rainier.

Back in the bell tower

It's not that I think the bell tower is haunted. It's just that it makes me think of scenes from scary movies.

On the plus side, Andrew successfully passed his trial-by-bell tower this morning.

Christmas shopping

It's never too early to start Christmas shopping for one's niece.

In Redmond

We paid a surprise visit to our friends in Redmond because tomorrow is a very important occasion. (Happy birthday, Karen!) And then D and Z were just a couple of miles away so we stopped by to say hi. Z has entered a shy phase, but she showed us that she can pick out things that are blue and green. Such a smartie!

At home

We are having a Jane Austen/crafty evening. How do other crafters keep from getting fingerprints on their crafts? Is it possible they are better at crafting? Heh.

Peg's desk

The view would be somewhat distracting... But so worth it.

At Sophia's spa-raiser

We had a lovely time visiting with half of the Smith Clan and raising money for Sophia by eating spaghetti. If only C and E could have been there, too, it would have been perfect!

At home

I am working at home today. I found out what Tom and Hairy do all day.

At the Ministries Fair

There was a little dog that looked like Pokey wearing an argyle sweater. And I think the 3D puzzle of Notre Dame was a hit.

Zizi's latest tricks

J, D, and Z came over to visit. Zizi showed off her latest tricks, including dancing and playing the xylophone. She loved Tommie and Hairy and gave them both the gentlest little hugs and kisses imaginable.

Knitters anonymous

The Cathedral knitters' group has been knitting up a huge number of hats and scarves for homeless people. They filled five baskets! I really wanted one of the hats. Fortunately, they are going to sell a few at the Advent Bazaar so I will have my opportunity later.

Happy Bonfire Night

We didn't have a bonfire or fireworks but we did have a fire in the fireplace.

A smart kitty

Tommie is wondering why there aren't more readings about cats in the Lectionary.

Dinner and skat

It seems like ages since we had dinner and skat at Joanna's. This time we played three hands and everyone won once.

On Marion Street

We lost one of our beautiful elms in the windstorm. The owner of this white car got very lucky.

Obligatory Shelley quotation:

O wild west wind, thou breath of Autumn's being, / Thou from whose unseen presence the leaves dead / Are driven, like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing, / Yellow, and black, and pale, and hectic red... Destroyer and Preserver, hear, O hear!

Halloween with Vikings and a caveman

Last night we went to Redmond for a delicious dinner made by Dana and a visit with Zizi and a caveman (John).

On her birthday Zizi wouldn't wear the hat but now she seems to like it.

I think she looks like a little girl in this one:

After dinner we watched an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba, Zizi's favorite show. She can hardly tear her eyes from the screen when it is on, and when it stops she finds the remote and starts pressing buttons.

Before we left we recreated the family portrait in costume, with Zizi's hat and Johnny's bone. And Dana's sword.  What a cool family.
