Joanna suggested a passeggiata after dinner. It was a lovely evening for a walk.

O'Dea gentlemen

Tonight we had the O'Dea Mass and Baccalaureate. This year's class was very respectful, perhaps because there were faculty members at either end of each row. The salutatorian said: "You were with me when times were bad. You cheered me up when I was sad. You were like the brothers I never had." There were oohs and ahs from his classmates. Rhyming!

The artiste

M was commissioned to create some drawings of Gospel scenes by the Jesuits of England. Soon to be quite famous among followers of!

A visit from Zizi

Zizi came over and showed off her crawling skills for a very appreciative audience of parents and aunties.

Max's new toy

Max loves gadgets like iPads, iPhones, iPad minis, and Kindles. But when he went out to the car to get his latest gadget we certainly weren't expecting him to come back with this.

Old house, new house

Today we visited some friends in Renton. First we visited Martha and Joe. You may know them from that famous blog Marta's Memories. Their house is a treasure trove of, well, treasures.  We even got to hear the Victrola in action. Then we went to a house blessing just a few doors down for the brand new house of Chi and Gigi. I would share a picture with you but alas, everyone had their eyes closed.

At the Seattle Center

Tonight we are at the Seattle Opera for "La Voix Humaine" and "Suor Angelica." I think the modern operas of yesteryear are a lot more modern than the modern operas are nowadays.

An elegant afternoon

We spent the afternoon in north Seattle. First we went to the Curious Nest to spend a gift certificate (merci à la famille Smith!). We ended up going ever so slightly over budget owing to the large array of French religious articles from the 19th century. I love my sainte famille under a palm tree. Then we crossed the street to visit some very old friends at Calvary Cemetery.  After that, lunch at the Queen Mary (Cornish pasty for me, steak and kidney pie for Maria). All in all, a most sophisticated and elegant afternoon.

An evening of Vatican II

Tonight we had a lecture by Dr Massimo Faggioli. He's one of those rare people who can be called a brilliant young scholar without any exaggeration. It was quite excellent.

At the ALC meeting

Archbishop brought some gifts for those who are retiring from the Commission this year. It just won't be the same without Father Steve, Father Jim, Michelle, and Rose.

Our housiversary

Today is the third anniversary of the day we saw our house. It's also the third anniversary of the day we bought our house.  Yaaaaay!

Happy Mothers' Day

We had a lovely Mothers' Day with mom, John, Dana, and Zizi.
Zizi demonstrated her crawling skills for Hairy. He was cautiously interested.
We tried to do portraits in the yard with the irises but they didn't turn out quite like we imagined.  Zizi was a little sleepy.
We gave mom the same identical honeysuckle plant that John and Dana got for her.

All in all a lovely afternoon!

In a sunbeam after rehearsal
When Bishop Elizondo told them to turn around
so everyone could stare at their faces
One hour and 40 happy minutes later
Of course our dear E was singled out for the vocations talk.
"Think about it.  I mean it.  Think about it."
With Father Tim and Joe
We were fortunate enough to be confirmation sponsors for one of the best young ladies in the world at Our Lady of the Lake tonight. Congratulations, E!

Reading Pride and Prejudice

Of course "P and P" is one of her favorite books to read. She was intrigued by the page with the two gentlemen.

She was quite interested in the marriage proposals.

She liked the horses a lot.

Her favorite part was the ball gowns. That was when she put one foot in the air and turned around to make sure everyone was paying attention.

Thank goodness for happy endings. Ten thousand pounds a year!
