On our way back to Chicago. When we arrived, Tennessee was really dark and haunted-looking, with weird mists hovering over the bare trees. As we leave, it's all sunshine on the bright snow and the cardinals are chirping in the branches. Tennessee seems to be happy we're leaving.
One of the fun things about being in Springfield is watching cable TV. Now we're watching Rachel Maddow on the State of the Union address. She seems like a Smith grad, but I guess she went to Brown. Odd.
We are on our way to Nashville, TN. You know what big country-western music fanatics we are. It's a pilgrimage, really. We walked to the Beacon Hill lightrail station and took the train. It was very convenient. The art is a bit odd. At the Beacon Hill station there are giant microbes. At the Tukwila station, there are atomic particles. It's pretty clear that the farther you get from Seattle, the more you devolve.
