A dinner in Lynnwood

Last night we went to Father Roger's Lynnwood apartment for dinner. It was nice to see his tasteful place where everything is just so.

It will send you into orbit

Today some cool friends took us to the Harry Potter exhibit at the Pacific Science Center. It was really pretty neat. Oddly, it seemed geared to children. They didn't offer to let any grownups try on the sorting hat. We got to see everything from Professor Slughorn's sluglike wand to Harry's formal robes from the Yule Ball scene in Book IV. We were most impressed by the printed materials - wanted posters, books, newspapers. It would be a very fun job to design the covers for "Through the Year with the Chudley Cannons" and "Advanced Potion Making."

I hope I'm not the only one who remembers "The Pacific Science Center, it will send you into orbit" theme song.

Spotlight on the shepherds

When we were in the attic making travel arrangements for the three kings, we ran across the shepherds.

The cutest baby in the world

Our friends Jason and Bethie are the parents of the cutest baby in the world: Charlotte. I love her already, don't you?

The ultimate boy game

The boys are playing Stratego. It's one of those games with a million rules.

In the Christmas village

As if the MacDuff's house didn't look enough like a Christmas card on the outside, there's a whole Christmas village inside.

There's an app for that

Have you ever wanted to make one of your photos black and white except for one little section in color? There is actually an app for that.

On Marilyn's desk

Marilyn's desk is right by the copier, so I couldn't help but notice the Christmas moose.

A Boxing Day party

We went to a party at the cool architectural home of an architect. It was fun and the kids (twins) are really talented, as evidenced by the photo.

A merry Christmas

It was a lovely Christmas. Incense, light and rain on Friday night made the servers glow.

At the annual shin-dig

Every Christmas Eve, Larry invites the staff up to his luxurious midtown office for hot buttered rum, goose sausage, and cheese.

Making an ordo, and checking it twice

Or even three times, because sometimes twice is not enough. The line about the donkey's ears is a Christmas tradition. Typically, if anything is in bold, caps, or italics in the ordo, it means it went wrong at some point. You get the picture...

Holiday cookies

It's a lot harder to decorate cookies than it appears. However, they taste better than they look.

At the Market

We went down to the Market to look for more presents. We were moderately successful. Have you seen the new lampposts? They depict small young people in modern dress holding light bulbs. But other than that they are pretty much like any other lampposts.

A game of Scrabble

We decided to allow words from Dickens. Then we added Shakespeare. We came up with some good ones.

A preview

They were there... And then they weren't!

The Rectory Tree

It's one of those timeless traditions of Christmas...

A visit from Noodle

The cat who used to live in our house is staying with the neighbors for Christmas, so she came over to visit her old haunts. I'm not sure she approved of what we've done with the place.

A couple of grinches

More people had their picture taken with the grinch than with the snowman, the gingerbread man, the polar bear, the reindeer, the Santa, or the other Santa.

In Candy Cane Lane

We went on a light-seeing tour of Seattle with mom. It must be rather annoying to live on Candy Cane Lane, with crowds of people, traffic, and screaming children for 25 days every December.

Our Christmas house

Christmas is even better when you have a house of your own to decorate.

Find and replace

I always imagined the time would come when I would be doing this, but it still seems a little odd.

The latest from Kit's desk

This one is fairly self-explanatory.

At 4th and Union

I guess this is the famous Lake Union people talk about.

At the Swedish Cultural Center

Happy birthday, Ruben!

Tree in progress

At the Tree Farm

We went to a tree farm in Wedgewood. Here's the perfect noble fir going through the baler. They not only wrapped the tree for us, they carried it to the car, put it in the trunk, and secured it with bungee cords.

At Sugar

I know the place is called Sugar, but putting marshmallows on top of cupcakes is going too far, don't you think?

A smoking toy

The little man smokes when you burn incense inside of him. Don't we all? One of many treasures at the Ungerhorton's elegant West Seattle abode.

A grand opening

We went to the opening of Kan Orchids on 12th and Madison. Quite tasteful and elegant.

87!

Because of the snow, grandma not only missed Thanksgiving, she missed her birthday! We made up for it tonight. Grandma says she doesn't feel any different than she did at 57.
