At Tamarind Tree

At Tango Tapas

I hope this looks as delicious as it tasted.

At Marian Hall

We had dinner with Sister Judy at her Capitol Hill home. It's half past celery.

La maison

We dropped off some things at Goodwill - we are cleaning out closets, etc, so as not to have to pack quite so much stuff. On the way back we drove past our new house. The sold sign was up.

We have learned a lot in the process of buying a house. Nothing practical, like cleaning gutters, but we hhave discovered that there is much etiquette and protocol in the world of real estate. For example, our agent is the one who puts up the sold sign, not the sellers' agent. I'm sure there's a reason.

At the Frye

Today we had lunch at the Frye. We haven't been there in ages because most of the art is so loathsomely ugly. But the guy who runs the restaurant remembered my name. Unbelievable. And he knew which one I was! Now if only I could remember his name...

The end of the feast

At David and Anna's

So far we've had three different wines and a salad composed entirely of greens from the garden. I can't wait to see what's coming next.

At Mars Hill

We are at "Mars Hill Graduate School," believe it or not, waiting to listen to a talk by author Ron Hansen, who is a permanent deacon (Catholic). It's a very cool, unchurchlike structure, with weird art on the walls.

If I were a butterfly

I'd wear this dress. I can't see any other circumstances when I might wear it.

Substitute Blogger

Corinna's phone died today, so until the new one arrives, I'm on duty as the blogger. Here is Miss B getting ready to go to a party. She looks lovely, doesn't she?

D3O

In his new digs... Not too shabby!

Inspection in paradise

We are at our new house (!!!) Doing the official inspection. So far, he's pointed out some faded cedar siding and some branches to be pruned.

One of Perry's notebooks

Paul is working on editing Perry's cool manuscripts. Isn't his notebook just like you imagined?

Paned Gymreig

The lilting Welsh syllables make the tea sound really romantic. All it actually says is, "foil wrapped for freshness."

At Carmel again

The Carmelites are always full of projects that we (M really) can help with. This time, 65 matted portraits of Saint Teresa.

Dinner at 4:30

I'm at an LMI dinner. It's a brainstorming session/salmon dinner in Isaac Orr Center.

At Seattle's Best

I came downtown to get some 11x17 photo paper and stopped at Seattle's Best for lunch. While I was eating my sandwich, some people stopped at the bench outside and proceeded to pour a lot of booze into a half-drunk bottle of A&W root beer. As the emoticon has it, {:O !

Seattle's Best is changing their logo. It is pretty mid-90s, when you think about it. They were giving out free cookies with the new logo on it. I guess this is my lucky day.

House-shopping

We got it into our heads to look into buying a house. The first one we saw was perfect, white picket fence and all. But, it was a bit overpriced and the seller was changing her mind about selling it. I can see why - it's adorable.

At Jeff's

Jeff is making us a belated Cinco de Mayo feast at his new house in Northgate. This is his tropical fish, Trevor.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

At Johnny's

His keyboard is really high tech.

At Barnes and Noble

At 9:50 on Mothers' Day Eve... The selection is limited.

At Chandler's

Maggie the Magnificent took us to brunch at Chandler's. Here she is with her signature drink - a strawberry daiquiri with an extra jigger of rum on the side. I ordered the green eggs and ham. It was good - but not as good as M's lobster mac and cheese.

Bumblebees at Seattle U

At Seattle U

We are attending a presentation/workshop called "Living with Ecclesial Tension." Now we're on our lunch break. It's pretty interesting. And the campus is so nice when it's sunny out.

Just another day on First Hill

For some reason, my snapshot of the inflatable nuclear warhead I saw going down Madison on Sunday did not come through. So I'm trying again.

Learning to tie a tie

It must be confirmation season.

Careers

At Joanna's we had a lovely dinner and then played a game called "Careers." Unbelievably, I won!

A really sweet birthday present

Look what Bryan got us - 8 pounds of sugar and gift certificates to Sugar. So we can gain a total of 16 pounds. Thanks, Bry!

A special funeral

Today we celebrated the funeral for Jim Impett, one of those parishioners who has been around forever. Jim taught Father Ryan to play the organ at St Edward's Seminary in 1950. That's a long time ago. The pictures at the reception were fun. I was most impressed by Julie's jet-black hair.
